Few sailing yachts can claim a heritage of an established boat building calibre as much as the 39.90 metre sailing yacht Rox Star can.

Boasting a captivating blend of traditional Turkish-built quality and contemporary superyacht styling, this gullet-inspired sail yacht is certainly not your ordinary motor-sailor, and once on board, one realises that Rox Star has been brilliantly set up with true bluewater sailing in mind.

Designed in-house by Bodrum-based Oguz Marin Bodrum, Rox Star is dressed in a pearlescent black hull with matching sails and classic deck house. Her vast exterior deck space has cleverly been divided into separate areas dedicated to socialising, sunbathing and partaking in the sailing action. The atmosphere on board keeps with Rox Star’s relaxed cruising design, and guests are in for a real vacation experience during their time spent on this modern-classic beauty.

Separated by the helm stations and running controls, is the main cockpit and aft sun bathing area. The cockpit is covered by a large fixed bimini that can be extended to provide shade to the sun bathing area aft. A large U-shaped seating area provides the perfect setting for guests to relax while underway, and makes the most of this wind-free area that is protected by the deck house ahead. A table placed in the centre makes this area ideal for large family gatherings during meal-times and can easily seat 10 guests. The aft sunbathing area can be used to enjoy a relaxing morning read while at anchor.

The prominent wheelhouse makes for a grand and elegant interior meeting area, with large square windows add much needed light to the warm and masculine decoration theme used in this space. Further light comes from the oversized skylights that are framed by the prevailing use of dark walnut timber throughout the yacht’s interior. Classy leather inserts along the bulkheads adds a soft touch to the hard woods and sharp-edged furniture.

The main saloon comprises of a bar area as you enter to port, with a large and comfortable corner sofa creating a welcoming and homely atmosphere. Guests can enjoy formal dining occasions here while experiencing a view of the starry night sky through the skylights above. The custom woodwork is continued down below in all the guest cabins. The master suite, placed forward on the accommodation deck again features warm brown leathers and exquisite wooden furniture and paneling; a true testament to the skilled craftsmen of the Bodrum region in Turkey. The full beam suite features its own skylight that also provides private access to the foredeck above.

The lovely en suite bathroom is finished with unique grey marble from Italy that resembles the patterns found in the wood used throughout the cabin, and houses its own steam room. The four remaining guest cabins have each been themed to represent a famous rock star and their lifestyle, with oversized images scattered throughout the cabins adding an original feeling to each. Each cabin features a double bed and en suite bathroom. The beds have been offset to the outboard part of the cabin to free up much needed space and creating a homely feel to the space at the same time.

Rox Star has been fitted with a ketch rig designed for easy handling by her 6 crew, yet is able to be optimised for performance cruising when the moment calls. Her twin MAN engines deliver 1,120 hp and can be engaged during light wind conditions and enables Rox Star to still cruise at 12 knots while doing so. A truly unique creation, Rox Star has been developed by Oguz Marin Bodrum to a design by K-Architectes, Geneva and supervised by build-captain Jean-Claude Vau, to meet the owner’s exact requirements of a sailing yacht that could offer high levels of comfort in a safe and performance-ready package. Her traditional Turkish style is complemented by modern touches and equipment on board that would make any instantly feel at home.
